OLD BUSINESS A. NAIPTA Transit Spine Study NAIPTA is currently studying several alternatives for route restructuring which includes three possible transit spine alternatives through the Milton Corridor and extending both South of Milton and East of Milton. The Project Purpose Statement: Identify, evaluate, and select a strategy and set of transit and multimodal transportation improvements that: connect key activity centers by transit, reduces transit travel times, improves transit operations, improves transit ridership connectivity by facilitating better transfer activity, and improves traffic operations in the Milton and Route 66 corridors NAIPTA will provide an overview of the alternative routes and an overall project update. Staff Recommendation: Review and comment on the materials and presentation.
NEW BUSINESS Flagstaff Metropolitan Planning Organization – Regional Transportation Plan progress update FMPO Manager, David Wessel, will provide a brief overview of the regional transportation plan and an update on the ongoing process. He will seek input from the Transportation Commission on broad issues being addressed through the planning process. Staff Recommendation: Review and comment on the materials and presentation.
ADA Downtown Parking Updates Transportation Program staff has been asked to review the current state of ADA parking in the downtown area. Both City parking lots and onstreet parking areas have been reviewed for compliance with City and Federal ADA guidance. Staff presented preliminary finding to the City Council in January 2016 and at that meeting was given direction to update the existing City owned parking lots including City Hall, Wheeler Park, Public Library, City Courts, Train Station and the collection of parking lots along Phoenix Avenue. Staff has also been working with the City’ Disability Awareness Committee on these updates. The follow-up discussion with City Council is scheduled for March 8th. Staff Recommendation: Review and comment on the materials and presentation, provide guidance and suggestions on the materials and concepts presented. City of Flagstaff, Snow Removal Policy and Procedures The City has an existing snow removal policy and procedures manual that covers a variety of issues including how and when snow is removed from different established roadway priorities. Periodically the Transportation Commission has held public discussions regarding different snow removal policies, this discussion was requested as a general discussion to gauge interest in more detailed future discussions. Mike O’connor from Public Works will provide an overview of current snow removal practices in the City.
