Linda Vista – Truck Prohibition – Chapter 09-01-001-0011 The enabling portion of City Code (Chapter 09-01-001-0011) that allows the City to prohibit Trucks on certain roadways in Flagstaff places that responsibility with the Transportation Commission. A citizen has contacted Transportation Engineering regarding the possibility of prohibiting trucks on Linda Vista Drive between Fanning and West Street. Staff Recommendation: Informational Item - Staff will present the code requirements and process for this change. Staff has invited the resident, who will speak to their concerns. Proper notification will need to take place prior to this becoming an actionable item.
NAIPTA – ADOT 5305e Grant Application US Hwy 180 transit opportunities Looking for support for an ADOT 5305e grant that is in partnership with FMPO and the City of Flagstaff for a demonstration project along US Hwy 180. This grant application will address immediate transit opportunities and implementation strategies for next winter. The grant is due to ADOT by 2/7 and Transportation Commission support is key to its success. Staff Recommendation: Review and comment on the materials and presentation provided by NAIPTA staff. If the TC supports this grant application, NAIPTA will provide a letter in support of the grant application to be signed by the Chair of the Commission.
Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee Appointments The Pedestrian and Bicycle Advisory Committees both have vacancies and applications to fill the vacancies. Staff Recommendation: Staff is requesting a motion to appoint new members to the Pedestrian and Bicycle Advisory Committees.
City of Flagstaff Capital Improvements – Transportation Program Updates The City’s Capital Improvements Program will review the Capital Transportation Program for this past construction season and next in anticipation of review of the Annual Report at an upcoming meeting. Staff Recommendation: Informational Item, no action required.
Flagstaff Unified School District – Kinsey Inquiry and Discovery School – 1601 S. Lone Tree Road At the November Transportation Commission Meeting a representative of Kinsey Elementary approached the Commission during public participation requesting speed limit feedback signs be installed on Lone Tree Road in front of the school. Staff has taken several field visits to the school during pick up and drop off times, measured speeds and volumes, as well as spoken with the crossing guards and the principal. This agenda item is a carry over after the December discussion in order for staff to collect additional speed data in front of the school, to the South of the existing crossing. Staff Recommendation: Review and provide feedback to City Staff, FUSD and Commissioner observations. Staff does not have a recommendation for improvements at this time, based on the observations and measurements.
